Guidelines for Effective Poster Presentations

1. A great poster catches your eye, and is:
a. Clear and simple
b. Easy to read
c. Organized with a logical flow
d. Relevant to viewers in its content
e. Taking advantage of the visual medium
f. Providing viewers with 1 or 2 main messages.
2. Use UPPER and lower case for general content as the use of all-capital text is difficult to read. Avoid using a mixture of type/font styles. Make it obvious to the viewer how to progressively view the poster. The poster generally should read from left to right, and top to bottom.
3. Use photos, cartoons, figures, tables, diagrams. Label them. Graphs and pictures are preferred to tables, and tables are preferred to text.
4. Leave some open space in the design. An open layout is less tiring to the eye and mind.
